windows - Why can't I map a network drive if I can ping I've tried mapping the drives through Windows Explorer and the command prompt, but neither works. In command prompt, I get the error: Multiple connections to a server or shared resource are not allowed. In Windows Explorer, I get the error: The network path \\servername\share cannot be found. If I intentionally attempt to map to a nonexistent IP address, it will instead return "The network path cannot be found." The two devices are in the same VLAN, and the same network, connected by switchports on a router. On the Windows 2000 PC, I can open a VNC connection to the Windows NT device with no problem.
Now the logged user can see and access that mapped drive. There are 2 connections to the same share. In this case the user doesn't see that annoying "Disconnected network drive ". But if you really need access to that share by the drive letter not just UNC, map that share with the different drive letters, e.g. Y for System and Z for users.
Oct 31, 2019 · The only way to map a network drive in Windows 10 Pro v1809 is by the following: Open file explorer, right click on "This PC", then click on "Add a Network Location". Once you click on "add a network location" a window will open which will walk you through the process of adding a network location via internet or LAN, just as if you were mapping a network drive.
