Mission and unit history of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron-775 HMLA-775 HMA-775, MALS-46 Det E became a compliment of eight 1968 model AH-1J's. It is also reported that MAG-46 Det-A HMLA-775 was attached to its active counterpart Mag-46 Det A (Detachment Alpha) who flew, maintained and operated the squadron on a daily basis. This small active component was responsible for the training and support of HMLA-775 during their drill weekends, active periods and unit activations for wartime deployment. In 2009, HMLA-773(-), HMLA-773 Det A and HMLA-773 Det B, separated to three locations yet come together to form one complete HMLA squadron that was capable of fulfilling any assigned HMLA mission in the Marine Corps. In April 1994, MAG 46 Det A/HMA 775 moved into a new hangar. In June 1994, five UH-1N helicopters were accepted and the squadron was redesignated Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 775 (HMLA 775) becoming the first HMLA in the Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing (4th MAW). The AH-1W and UH-1N continue to receive upgrades in capabilities.
